Myofascial Release: Freeing the Fascial System

How our osteopaths use myofascial release to unwind long-held tension patterns through the connective tissue.

What is myofascial release?

Myofascial release is a hands-on osteopathic technique that applies sustained, low-load pressure to restricted fascia — the connective tissue web that surrounds every muscle, nerve and organ. Given time, the tissue softens, hydrates and glides again.

How we use it

Rather than forcing tissue to change, our osteopaths work with it. A hold might last 90 seconds to several minutes. We follow the tissue as it unwinds, addressing global patterns — not just a single 'tight muscle.'

Common conditions we treat

Chronic neck and shoulder tension, thoracic stiffness, plantar fasciitis, IT band pain, post-surgical scarring, and long-standing lower back pain. Myofascial release is often the missing piece for clients who feel stretching and strengthening alone haven't shifted their pattern.
