What is dry needling?

Dry needling uses fine, sterile filament needles placed into myofascial trigger points. Unlike acupuncture, the goal is mechanical — reset an overactive muscle band and reduce its referred pain pattern.

How we use it

Our osteopaths add dry needling to a treatment when hands-on release alone isn't quite enough — stubborn glutes, deep hip rotators, calf trigger points, upper traps and jaw muscles all respond well. Consent and clear explanation come first, every session.

Common conditions

Tension headaches, TMJ pain, gluteal trigger points driving sciatica-like referral, tennis and golfer's elbow, plantar fasciitis, hamstring tightness in runners and shoulder impingement patterns. Osteopath Mitcham — hands-on osteopathy at Lifestyle Essentials, 503 Whitehorse Road, Mitcham.
